Authorities in Washington County have identified the man found dead on Interstate 70 early Sunday morning.

He is Timothy F. Booker, 46, of Avella, the Washington County Coroner’s office announced Monday night.

As the coroner’s office reported Sunday, a truck driver called 911 shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday and said that he saw what appeared to be a person lying on the eastbound highway about 200 feet from the Chestnut Street on-ramp in North Franklin.

The man appeared to have been hit multiple times by multiple vehicles, the corner said.

“It is presumed, but not confirmed, that he had been a pedestrian,” a report from the coroner’s office said.

State police were investigating.

The coroner’s office and state police acknowledged the assistance of the South Strabane Township Police in confirming the victim’s identity.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact state police at 724-223-5200 or the Washington County Coroner’s office at 724-228-6785.
