A Beaver County man has been arrested and charged with criminal homicide in connection with the Oct. 24 shooting death of a man in New Castle.

Daniel Lee Tweedlie, 19, of New Brighton, was taken into custody shortly after midnight on Tuesday after officers from the New Castle Police Department and the Lawrence County Critical Incident Response Team surrounded a home along McCleary Avenue in the city, according to police.

An arrest warrant was issued on Oct. 27 for Tweedlie for the death of Devon Thompson, 21, of Beaver Falls, who was shot at a home along Leasure Avenue and pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital, according to investigators.

Tweedlie is being detained in the Lawrence County Jail on felony charges of criminal homicide and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, police said.

Police said charges may be filed against a person who assisted Tweedlie while he was trying to avoid being captured.
