Charges were filed Tuesday against a Blair County woman who, along with her two children, was reported missing and possibly in danger with her father-in-law, but were later found safe in Indiana County.

Trooper Cliff Greenfield said Alicia Rose Brumbaugh, 31, of Imler, is charged with child endangerment, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

State police started searching for Brumbaugh and her children, ages 1 and 2, late Monday after a family member reported receiving a “frantic” call from her in the area of a Walmart store in Indiana County. Police asked motorists to keep an eye out for a Chevrolet Avalanche Brumbaugh was believed to be traveling in with Edgar Lee Decker Jr., 56, of Roaring Spring.

A motorist spotted the vehicle at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and police stopped it on Route 422 east in White Township.

Decker was arrested on a retail theft warrant and custody was transferred to state probation and parole, Greenfield said. Police found suspected methamphetamine inside Brumbaugh’s purse. She is being held in the Indiana County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.

“Following additional investigation, troopers do not have evidence which would indicate that Brumbaugh was held against her will during this incident,” he said. “This investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be filed.”

The children were with their father, police said.

Brumbaugh did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 26.
