A Blairsville man has been sentenced to prison after sexually assaulting a minor over a four-year period.

Gregory Jones, 39, was sentenced to a prison term of up to 13 years on Tuesday.

Prosecutors said that Jones sexually assaulted the girl between 2017 and 2020.

The victim provided evidence to police including messages sent by Jones corroborating the allegations.

Jones pleaded guilty to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a victim under the age of 16, statutory sexual assault by a defendant 11 years older than a minor victim, corruption of minors, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault.

“The victim in this case was incredibly brave to come forward and face this defendant who assaulted her while she was a minor,” said Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi. “I hope this outcome helps start the healing process as they move forward in a positive way in their life.”

Jones received a cumulative sentence of no less than five years and no more than 10 years in a state prison, along with consecutive probation. He must also register as a Megan’s Law sex offender for the rest of his life.
