A 16-year-old Connellsville boy was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday in Fayette County, not far from its border with Westmoreland County.

State police did not identify the teen in a news release. He was a passenger in a Ford Mustang being driven by a 19-year-old Acme man, according to troopers.

The car was traveling on Indian Creek Valley Road at 3 p.m. when it collided with a GMC Sierra that was traveling the opposite direction and making a left turn onto Calvary Church Road, police said. Authorities believe the Mustang was speeding at the time of the crash.

The car driver had serious injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The pickup driver, a 28-year-old Ohiopyle man, had minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Uniontown Hospital, police said.

The crash happened south of Donegal and off of Route 711 near Champion.
