A Monaca man is accused of driving under the influence in a deadly hit-and-run involving a boy in Beaver County on Friday evening.

Rochester Borough police charged Thomas Earl Cole, 53, of Monaca with homicide by vehicle while DUI, accidents involving death or personal injury and DUI, according to court records.

The incident happened in the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Rochester, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.

Details on the crash were not available. The child’s age was not released.

Police later announced that the suspect vehicle had been found and the suspected driver was in the Beaver County Jail awaiting arraignment.

“We are unable to provide the public any further details as the investigation is ongoing,” the police department said on its Facebook page. “The Rochester Police Department would like to extended our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the child that lost his life in this horrific tragedy.”

Cole was denied bail when he was arraigned Saturday. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 7.
