Punxsutawney Phil got busy after predicting an early spring this year.

The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club took to Facebook on Wednesday to announce groundhogs Phil and Phyllis have given birth to two babies.

The baby groundhogs are healthy and with their mom and dad at the zoo located at the Punxsutawney Memorial Library.

More than 400 people had commented on the Facebook post by 4 p.m. It had been shared over 2,000 times, and more than 4,000 people liked the post.

The baby groundhogs can be seen through the viewing window at the library, the groundhog club said.

The age-old question of whether Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow is answered annually Feb. 2 in front of a crowd of thousands at Gobbler’s Knob.

This year, Phil delivered the news the crowd was hoping for: no shadow and an early spring.

The breeding season for groundhogs extends from early March to late April. A mated pair stays in the same den throughout the 32-day gestation period, according to Operation Wildlife.
