Several Western Pennsylvania counties north of Pittsburgh suffered downed trees and power lines on Sunday evening from strong winds and heavy downpours, but no tornadoes were reported, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service issued a tornado watch with wind gusts of up to 60 mph shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday.

Much of the region received about 1 inch of rain with steady winds from the west at 21 mph and gusts of around 37 mph.

The watch was lifted at around about 10 p.m., said meteorologist Pat Herald of the weather service office in Moon Township.

Much of the weather-related damage was contained to Lawrence, Venango and Clarion counties in Pennsylvania and Columbiana County in Ohio, Herald said.

Monday’s weather forecast calls for scattered showers, a high temperature of 47 degrees and steady winds of between 18 and 20 mph with gusts of 37 mph.

The temperature was expected to dip to a low of 37 degrees on Monday night with winds slowing to between 5 and 11 mph.

The forecast calls for cloudy skies with a chance of showers Tuesday through Wednesday with daytime temperatures in the mid-60s to low 70s.

There will be a short reprieve with partly sunny skies and a high temperature near 78 on Thursday.

Thunderstorms are in Friday’s forecast with showers expected to continue through Sunday, according to the weather service.
