The second of two men charged in the 2019 bombing of a Clearfield County house — which left a woman dead — was found guilty by a federal jury this week.
Clint Addleman, 49, of Clearfield, was found guilty of possessing an unregistered destructive device, conspiracy to maliciously destroy property by explosive, malicious destruction of property resulting in death and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
Addleman’s co-conspirator, Kris Nevling, 48, of Clearfield was convicted last August.
Prosecutors said Addleman and Nevling bombed the Clearfield apartment over an unpaid $1,000 drug debt.
Shawna Carlson, 34, died after a package delivered to her home exploded, resulting in a fire that destroyed the two-story apartment building where she lived.
Addleman was a drug dealer operating in and around Clearfield, obtaining large quantities of meth and redistributing it, prosecutors said. Addleman “fronted” methmphetamine to Carlson, who was living in the multi-unit apartment on East Market Street.
When money for the drugs was not repaid after several months, Addleman and Nevling worked together to construct a bomb that was mailed to Carlson’s apartment on Oct. 4, 2019.
Nevling is scheduled to be sentenced on March 25. Addleman’s sentencing is scheduled for July 22.
Addleman faces up to life in prison.
