Comcast offering free Wi-Fi for rest of year as nation works to reopen amid coronavirus
Comcast will keep its public Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots open to everyone, including non-Xfinity customers, for the remainder of the year, the company said Thursday.
The provider in March announced it would open access to its 1.5 million hotspots to anyone amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“We saw a huge jump in usage after we opened up our public hotspots, and we’re excited to keep them open through the end of the year as the nation begins taking steps to reopen,” Dana Strong, president of customer service, said in a statement.

The company also recently announced it would extend its offer of 60 days of free home Internet service to new Internet Essentials customers. They will also continue to waive its normal requirement that customers have no past-due balance with Comcast to qualify for the offer.
“We’re pleased to see so many families and individuals take advantage of our 60 days of free home Internet through Internet Essentials, and the free access to public Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots to get online during this time when connectivity is so important,” Strong said.
