Two of four puppies found dumped in the woods in Connellsville on March 26 have died, according to a nearby shelter that is caring for the other two.
Officials from Ninth Life Rescue Shelter in Connellsville received a call about the puppies found in the woods off Sandy Flat Road. They believe the puppies, who all tested positive for parvo, had been left there three days earlier.
They are treating the other two puppies with parvo antibody medication and seeking information about how they came to be left in the woods. Due to the puppies’ size difference, Ninth Life staff were unsure if the group was from the same or different litters.
Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious viral disease that commonly causes acute gastrointestinal illness in puppies.
