Woman killed in Fayette County house fire

A woman was killed in a house fire in Springhill Township, Fayette County on Thursday, March 28, 2019.

A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of a fatal house fire early Thursday in Springhill Township, Fayette County.

The victim was a woman in her 70s who lived in the lower level of a garage apartment in the 100 block of Greater Point Marion Road, according to authorities. The woman’s identity had not been released.

A cause of the fire has yet to be determined, said Trooper Robert Broadwater, spokesman for state police in Uniontown. The coroner was called to the fire after it was reported at 4:05 a.m.

No one was living on the upper level of the house, which was destroyed, authorities said..

No other information was immediately available.
