A 35-year-old Washington, Pa., man was killed Saturday morning in a crash on Route 40 in Canton Township, according to Washington County Coroner S. Timothy Warco.

At 11:52 a.m., Patrick J. Hughes lost control of his car at Roosevelt Street, went up an embankment and through a tree, Warco said in a news release.

Hughes was ejected and trapped beneath the vehicle. He wasn’t wearing a seat belt, according to the news release.

State police are investigating the crash, but did not provide further information Saturday.
