Cranberry supervisors have moved forward with plans for Henderson Crossing, a mixed-use development anchored by a Meijer grocery store and a Meijer Express gas station.

A proposed development would give Meijer a 159,000-square-foot supercenter in the township, officials previously told TribLive.

After a public hearing, supervisors on Dec. 11 granted preliminary land development and conditional use approval, one of the first steps to bring the Michigan-based grocery store chain to southwestern Butler County, according to the Butler Eagle.

The store would offer groceries, apparel, garden supplies, drive-through pharmacy service and curbside pickup, Henshaw said. Meijer also plans to run a gas station and convenience store next to the building.

Discussion has focused on traffic management, particularly how new access points, turning lanes and traffic signals would function alongside upcoming state Department of Transportation improvements in the corridor, the Eagle reported.

Officials expect construction to begin next year.
