Evening storms leave pockets of Allegheny, Westmoreland counties without power
Stormy weather on Friday evening made for a few scattered power outages in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.
In Allegheny County, about 100 Duquesne Light customers in Penn Hills’ Shannon Heights neighborhood near Verona, and about 250 customers in both the Monroeville and North Versailles area were without power as of 10:15 p.m.
In Westmoreland County, between 100 and 500 FirstEnergy customers were without power near Elizabeth Township’s Round Hill Park. A similar number are powerless in the Edmon neighborhood north of Saltsburg.
Company officials expect power to be restored around 10:30 p.m., according to the FirstEnergy online outage map.
