A five-month investigation by Fayette County authorities resulted in criminal charges being filed this week against a Brownsville man who allegedly broke the arm of an infant girl in February.

Brownsville police obtained an arrest warrant Thursday for Frances W. Lee III, 37, who is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of endangering the welfare of children.

Borough police Chief Stanley Jablonsky said county children’s and youth services and police were notified by physicians at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh who had treated the infant, who was less than one-year-old at the time, for a broken arm after her parents took her there on Feb. 19.

The charges were filed based on hospital records, interviews with the mother and father, and a witness who was living in Lee’s residence.

During an interview with investigators, Jablonsky said Lee “admitted he was the one that caused the injury.”
