The National Weather Service issued a freeze watch for the areas in teal. The light brown area is being affected by a hazardous weather outlook, and the white area is unaffected. The freeze watch is for late Sunday night through Monday morning.

A freeze watch will be in effect from late Sunday night through Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees will be possible, the NWS said.

The watch will affect both Allegheny and Westmoreland counties as well as the surrounding areas.

Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, the weather service said. The conditions could also possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

The National Weather Service advises taking steps to protect plants from the cold. To prevent the freezing and possible bursting of outdoor pipes, they should be “wrapped, drained or allowed to drip slowly.”

In-ground sprinkler systems should be drained, and above-ground pipes should be covered.
