The Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) reported details today for tranquilizing a black bear roaming around town in Edinboro last week, including stopping at a beer distributor, according to the website

From the beer distributor, the bruin went into Edinboro Lake, and swam to shore where more residents spotted the animal.

PGC arrived on the scene and worked with Edinboro police and chased the bear up a tree.

Pennsylvania State Game Warden Michael Stutts tranquilized the bear, then presented a public information session.

“They allowed us to come over and take a peek at it, and see something we might not ever see up close like that,” Kelly Hall, a lake visitor, told

The bear was then transported to state game lands where it safely ran off into the woods.
