Giant Eagle to allow fully vaccinated customers, staff to go maskless
Giant Eagle will not require fully vaccinated shoppers or workers to wear masks at its supermarkets and GetGo locations starting Monday, company officials announced.
Company spokesman Dick Roberts explained the move via press release Tuesday evening.
“Throughout the covid-19 pandemic, we have taken every opportunity to safeguard the health and well-being of Giant Eagle team members and guests,” Roberts wrote. “As the number of vaccinated individuals increases and our communities reopen, and considering the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s May 13 guidance regarding mask-wearing, we will no longer require that masks or face coverings be worn by (those) vaccinated.
“Those not fully vaccinated will continue to be required to wear a mask or other face covering while in-store. For those not fully vaccinated who are unable to wear a mask or other face covering, Giant Eagle’s online grocery ordering continues to be available with convenient curbside pickup and delivery options.”
Roberts encouraged those not vaccinated to take advantage of vaccine opportunities at the various in-store pharmacies.
“As we continue to navigate this public health crisis, it is vital that we all work together to protect ourselves and each other,” he said.
Giant Eagle joins the growing list of places not requiring vaccinated people to wear masks.
