The Great Allegheny Passage has been named one of the best sunset spots in the United States.

Running from Cumberland, Md. to Pittsburgh in the Appalachian Mountains and through the Laurel Highlands, the Great Allegheny Passage consists of 150 miles of biking and hiking trails.

The Great Allegheny Passage was ranked No. 43, according to data from SIXT, which ranks over 200 locations by popularity and environment quality.

SIXT is a car rental and mobility company based in Munich, Germany. Locally, it has a car rental service at the Pittsburgh International Airport.

The top 10 sunset locations, according to the data, in the United States are:

1. Calcite Springs in Wyoming

2. Skagit Valley in Washington

3. Kilauea Crater in Hawaii

4. Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii

5. Jenne Farm in Washington

6. Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming

7. Penn Cove in Washington

8. Au Sable Light Station in Michigan

9. Paradise Meadow in Washington

10. Inspiration Point in Wyoming

SIXT said it analyzed search trends, social media data and air quality metrics like pollution and visibility as of Jan. 21 to determine the lists — which highlight viral sunset spots.

The top locations boast vivid views and lack smog and haze.

The Great Allegheny Passage is perfect for anyone “craving stillness and natural beauty,” SIXT said.

“As the sun sets, the trail comes alive with color. Golden light spills over the hills, and deep forests glow in rich hues of orange and violet,” SIXT said. “Though it is not heavily searched or crowded, the trail rewards those who find it with peaceful paths, scenic overlooks and sunsets that feel almost unreal.”
