AAA and Pennsylvania State Police are partnering this summer to reduce deadly crashes.

The two entities announced Wednesday the implementation of Operation Combined Accident Reduction Effort (C.A.R.E).

Under Operation C.A.R.E. police will step up efforts to combat speeding, distracted driving, aggressive driving and driving under the influence.

Officers will increase enforcement details and DUI checkpoints throughout the summer, using police cruisers, helicopters, armored vehicles, alcohol and drug enforcement vehicles, motorcycles and K-9 units.

AAA East Central projects nearly 43 million Americans will be traveling 50 miles or more this Memorial Day weekend, which is the second-highest amount on record since AAA began tracking holiday travel volumes dating back to 2000.

Nearly 100 million Americans will take a family vacation this year, according to a survey by AAA.
