Indiana County woman accused of attempted homicide
An Indiana County woman is charged with attempted homicide and is accused of severely beating and stabbing a man Saturday during a domestic dispute in Conemaugh Township, state police said.
The suspect, Mary Elizabeth Stuller, 60, of Clarksburg, is accused of hitting the man in the head with a glass pitcher and stabbing him about five times in the torso during an argument at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the suspect’s residence, according to court papers. When the man fell to the floor after being hit on the head, Stuller stabbed him and continued to hit him in the head with a glass pitcher, police said.
The man was transported to AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville and was reported in stable condition on Monday, police said.
Police said they were notified of the incident when a passing motorist saw a woman, later identified as Stuller, lying on Clarksburg Road who claimed she had been assaulted, according to court papers. The victim was found inside the suspect’s residence with blood on his face, chest and around his body. Large amounts of blood were seen on the wall and the floor of the living room, as well as traces of blood throughout the residence, police stated. A bloody kitchen knife was found close to the victim, police said.
Stuller was treated for injuries at Indiana Regional Medical Center, police said.
Stuller was arraigned Sunday before Clymer District Judge Christoper Welch on charges of attempted homicide and aggravated assault. She was placed in the Indiana County Jail without bond, pending a preliminary hearing set for Aug. 12 before Welch.
