Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman has identified a woman found dead Friday morning by crews battling a fire at her Rayne Township home.

Betty Ann Coleman, 77, was found dead in the kitchen as firefighters searched the home along Route 119, according to Overman. Investigators aren’t sure why she was unable to escape from the home, he said.

Overman said the manner of her death is under investigation, with results pending from toxicology testing and an autopsy to be performed Saturday.

State police also investigated.

Firefighters from Marion Center, Indiana, Plumville, Clymer and Creekside responded to the 10:53 a.m. fire, along with the Indiana County Rapid Intervention Team.

John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home of Indiana is in charge of arrangements.
