An 82-year-old Indiana County woman was killed and a female passenger was seriously injured Tuesday morning after her car collided with a dump truck in a wrong-way collision along Route 422, state police said.

The driver of a 2000 Ford Focus sedan was from Homer City, as was a 78-year-old passenger in the car.

Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman identified the 82-year-old woman as Delores D. McCloskey. She was pronounced dead on scene.

The passenger was being treated at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown for “major injuries” after the 9:28 a.m. crash, state police said.

Troopers said the driver of the Focus drove the wrong way down the South 6th Street exit ramp of Route 422 in White Township.

Police said the 52-year-old driver of the dump truck was westbound on Route 422 when the car proceeded on to the highway heading the wrong direction and collided head on with the truck.

The truck driver was not injured but the truck was extensively damaged, according to police. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, but it could not be determined whether the female passenger was wearing a seatbelt due to the vehicle damage, according to reports.

Troopers said the injured passenger’s injuries were not considered life threatening.
