A 36-year-old Indiana County man was charged Wednesday with 26 counts of sexual abuse of children and one count of indecent assault after state troopers say they found multiple still images and one video recording depicting child pornography.

Robert Earl Rout III of Indiana was arraigned before Homer City District Judge Susanne Steffee and released on $25,000 unsecured bond pending a preliminary hearing March 24.

Police reported the investigation began in August after a man who lives in the area reported he had sexual contact with Rout at a residence in White Township.

Troopers seized Rout’s laptop computer via a search warrant.

Rout could not be reached for comment. An attorney was not listed in court documents.
