IRS says Beaver County owes it $378,000
A hefty tax lien has been filed against a Pennsylvania county after a former payroll supervisor apparently ignored IRS warning letters notifying it of unpaid debt.
The IRS filed the lien against Beaver County claiming the government owes it more than $378,000.
County officials found several IRS notifications of an impending lien that were disregarded. County solicitor Garen Fedeles told the Beaver County Times he thinks it’s a non-reporting issue, not a non-payment issue. He’s reached out to the IRS.
Of the lien amount, $261,000 is from a 2016 debt. But it’s not exactly clear what the lien is for. The remaining $117,000 is a non-payment penalty added last year.
Fedeles said Beaver County’s payroll supervisor, who has been at her position for about three years, has been let go.
