Indiana University of Pennsylvania Wednesday joined a growing chorus of universities announcing plans for in-person commencement this spring

Officials said plans call for as many as six ceremonies May 7 and 8 for May and August 2021 graduates. Plans include a ceremony for graduates receiving master’s and doctoral degrees on the evening of Friday, May 7. Undergraduate degrees will be conferred Saturday, May 8, at up to five separate ceremonies.

Graduates will be limited to two guests each at the ceremonies at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex. Ceremonies will be livestreamed for those unable to come in person.

As elsewhere, officials said all ceremonies are being planned in accord with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance and could change, subject to changing public health concerns or new state restrictions on large gatherings.
