Weeknight closures of a Somerset County tunnel on the Pennsylvania Turnpike will begin Monday to allow for routine maintenance work, according to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

The closures will take place between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday-Thursday inside the Allegheny Tunnel and result in traffic traveling in both directions in one side of the tunnel. The work is expected to last until Aug. 25.

The tunnel is at milepost 122.

The eastbound lanes will be closed starting Monday and traffic will be re-routed in a single lane into the westbound tunnel along with a single lane of westbound traffic. The opposite closure for the westbound lanes will begin Aug. 15.

Weather conditions could change work schedules.
