A 20-year-old man is behind bars in connection with a fatal shooting in Canonsburg over the weekend.

Canonsburg police charged Kristopher M. Moorehouse with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment in the shooting death of Brady Paul, 25, at a home on Giffin Avenue late Saturday night.

Police wrote in a criminal complaint that at 11:41 p.m. Saturday, they were dispatched to the 500 block of Giffin Avenue for a report of shots fired.

Paul was dead when officers arrived, according to the complaint. He had gunshot wounds to his torso and blood on his face. Police swept the residence and located two guns in the foyer area.

According to the complaint, the incident began at 11:13 p.m., when three gunshots were heard on a neighbor’s video surveillance camera. People were seen running to the back of the house and leaving in a vehicle.

Detectives interviewed a woman who said she was inside the house with a few others prior to the shooting. She said she and Moorehouse were in a bedroom when Paul asked to join them intimately, which Moorehouse denied, according to the complaint.

The woman said she remained in the bedroom and was on the phone when Moorehouse confronted Paul, the complaint said. A short time later, she heard gunshots. Moorehouse then ran away.

Others also fled the scene, according to the complaint. Witnesses told the woman they saw Moorehouse shoot Paul.

The woman took three other people to another residence, the complaint said. She dropped two of them off, and then drove to the house of Moorehouse’s mother with the third person.

There, Moorehouse came outside and told the woman he ran after the shooting to a creek to wash blood off him, and then came to his mother’s house.

Moorehouse asked her to take him to Parkersburg, W.Va., “because he had to get out of Canonsburg,” the complaint said.

While driving to West Virginia, Moorehouse told the woman he shot Paul.

Moorehouse was denied bail Monday and is being held in the Washington County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Sept. 23 before District Judge James Saieva Jr.
