DA: Man, 49, beaten to death in Aliquippa in what appears to be self-defense
A man who was stabbed in Beaver County early Tuesday killed the man who attacked him in what appears to be self-defense, officials said.
Anthony N. Ingram, 49, died in the incident, Coroner David J. Gabauer said. Cause and manner of death were not available late Tuesday, pending further investigation, Gabauer said.
Shortly before 6:30 a.m., 911 dispatchers received a report of a domestic disturbance on Main Street in Aliquippa.
City police officers arrived to find Ingram unresponsive and lying in the backyard of a residence, about three houses away from where the incident had happened, state police said.
Ingram was taken to a nearby Heritage Valley hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
Initial reports indicate that the two men got into a heated argument that prompted Ingram to stab the other man, state police said.
The man who was stabbed — and whose name has not been released — retaliated by beating Ingram until he was unconscious, police said.
District Attorney David Lozier told Trib news partner WPXI-TV that the man who survived the altercation will not face any charges at this time because he appears to have acted in self-defense.
State police said the men are believed to be related but officials did not immediately disclose their relationship.
State police and the District Attorney’s Office continue to investigate.
