The two men wounded during the shooting at the Trump rally Saturday in Butler County have been upgraded from critical to serious condition, hospital officials said Wednesday.

James Copenhaver, 74, of Moon and David Dutch, 57, of Plum are being treated at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

“The Copenhaver family would like to thank you for your continued thoughts, prayers and support as Jim and his family recover from this horrible, senseless and unnecessary act of violence,” his family said in a statement.

The Dutch family said on Wednesday: “David and our entire family are especially grateful to all the first responders and medical professionals who saved his life, including the Life Flight and trauma surgical teams at AGH. As we focus on David’s recovery, we also offer our deepest condolences and prayers for the other victims of this tragic event and their families.”

Thomas Crooks, 20, was identified as the shooter early Sunday by the FBI. He lived in Bethel Park, which is about 50 miles south of the rally that took place at the Butler Farm Show grounds. Crooks was shot and killed by authorities after he opened fire.

Rally attendee Corey Comperatore, 50, of Buffalo Township was killed in the shooting.
