An Armstrong County man who had been reported missing last month was found dead over the weekend. Pennsylvania State Police said they made an arrest in connection with his killing.

Troopers had been investigating the disappearance of David E. Kimberly, 56, of Plumcreek since Sept. 28. Family members told investigators they last saw Kimberly on Sept. 23 when he gathered some of his belongings from his Reefer Hollow Road home and left in his van after his wife told him she wanted a divorce, according to a press release.

Kimberly’s van was found Saturday concealed in a wooded area near the home, police said.

A 33-year-old Rural Valley man confessed to shooting Kimberly in a Reefer Hollow Road home and moving his body to a remote area of Jefferson County. Troopers said they located and recovered Kimberly’s body.

Armstrong County Jail records indicate Cody J. Weiland, 33, was being held there on charges of homicide, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and related offenses. He was booked into the jail Sunday.
