A Penn State student reported missing Thursday has been found dead, according to State College Police.

Police did not name the 19-year-old woman. The Centre Daily Times, citing the university and family members’ social media, identified her as Justine Gross.

Police said early indications are her death was accidental.

It was not immediately clear where Gross was found. State College police are continuing to investigate.

Penn State spokeswoman Lisa Powers told the Centre Daily Times that Gross was in the College of Liberal Arts. She was a sophomore.

“We are heartbroken for the family and friends of Justine Gross and offer our condolences to all who knew and loved her,” Powers told the paper.

Gross lived in an off-campus apartment at Beaver Terrace.

“We’re just saddened by the news. Our students are family to us. It’s a sad day for all of us here,” Associated Realty Property Management President Mark Bigatel told the newspaper.

“We’re deeply saddened,” he said. “Our heartfelt sorrow goes out to the parents. It must be a tough situation for everybody.”

Authorities urged anyone with information on the incident to contact State College Police at 814-234-7150 or via email at police@statecollegepa.us or through an anonymous tip website.
