2 injured in East Hills dog attack
Two people were injured after being attacked by a dog Thursday afternoon in Pittsburgh’s East Hills neighborhood.
At about 2:30 p.m., EMS, police and Animal Care & Control officers were called to the 8400 block of Dersam Street.
The dog’s male owner and a female neighbor were found to have bite wounds by the same dog, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.
The man self-transported to the hospital, while Pittsburgh EMS transported the woman to a hospital for treatment. Their wounds were not considered life-threatening.
Animal Care & Control officers took the dog to an emergency veterinary facility where it will be euthanized. Another of the owner’s dogs was taken to Humane Animal Rescue Pittsburgh.
Ohio Township home catches fire
A home caught fire Friday morning in Ohio Township in Allegheny County.
TribLive news partner WTAE said the fire was reported shortly before 3:30 a.m. on the 400 block of Nicholson Road.
No one was transported to the hospital. There was no immediate known cause of the fire.
Pittsburgh detectives search for missing 67-year-old woman
Police say a 67-year-old woman is missing, prompting Pittsburgh Special Victims Unit detectives to conduct a search.
Marie Alphonse, who has been diagnosed with dementia and is considered endangered, was last seen at about 11:45 a.m. on Lawndale Street in Pittsburgh’s Homewood North neighborhood near the Penn Hills border, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.
She is Haitian and does not speak English — but will respond to her name, according to the release.
Alphonse, a grey-haired woman described as 5-foot-5 and weighing approximately 90 pounds, was last seen wearing a brown or tan Carhartt brand jacket, unknown style of pants, sneakers and a large tan hat with a big brim, the release said.
