Here are some of the latest news items from this morning, Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025:

6 injured in Greene County mine incident

Six people were taken to the hospital late Monday night after an incident at a Greene County mine.

TribLive news partner WTAE reports that first responders were called to the Harvey Mine in Sycamore Township around 11:20 p.m. Monday. Emergency dispatchers did not know the nature of the incident, but said six people were transported by ambulance.

Core Natural Resources officials said the incident involved a pressurized water hose, and that five of the six people were treated and released from local hospitals. One remains in the hospital for further evaluation.

CNR officials said they are conducting an internal review of the incident.

The Harvey Mine opened in the mid-2010s and is a “longwall” mining operation, meaning a long single face of coal is mined by cutting continuously across its entirety. Consol Energy — which recently merged with Arch Resources to form Core Natural Resources — has its flagship operation based there, and the mine complex extends south into West Virginia.

Core Natural Resources officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

Thieves target Hyundai, Kia vehicles

Pittsburgh police are warning residents that thieves continue to target Hyundai and Kia vehicles for break-ins, owing to a previous security fault in some models.

Police took eight reports over the weekend of break-ins and attempts on cars in the city’s Brookline neighborhood.

Police remind residents to always lock their vehicles, see about updating their car with anti-theft software, and use a steering-wheel lock if a car’s software has not been updated.
