Woman charged with DUI after wrong-way crash
A Penn Hills woman faces DUI charges after allegedly driving the wrong way and hitting a car Tuesday night in Pittsburgh’s West End neighborhood.
At 11:58 p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to 31 Greenleaf St. in the West End Circle for a vehicle crash, according to a criminal complaint. Police said a man on the scene told officers he saw a black Chevy Sonic driving the wrong way, hitting his car. The Chevy, driven by Nicole Gecina, 32, attempted to drive up Greenleaf but was stopped, the criminal complaint said.
Officers said Gecina’s breath smelled like alcohol. She told officers she was coming the Roxian Theater in McKees Rocks and had two drinks while there, the complaint said. Gecina failed field sobriety tests, and her BAC came back at 0.205%, according to the report. She also told officers her license had been suspended from two prior DUIs.
She was taken into custody at the scene. A preliminary hearing hasn’t yet been scheduled, according to online court records.
