1st phase of Point State Park renovations complete
The first phase of renovation work at Point State Park has been completed months ahead of schedule, state officials announced.
That work involved repairs to leaks and lighting on the fountain at the confluence of the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio rivers in Pittsburgh. A slew of additional repairs were made to utilities, walkways and the lawn. It is all a part of the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ $3.4 million project.
The work was expected to be finished in the spring, making Pittsburgh’s iconic park ready early for April’s NFL Draft and the celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday, officials said.
The parking lot at 624 Commonwealth Place has reopened.
An additional $25 million project at the 36-acre park will include more updates to the fountain and new recreational activities on the lawn.
