Police investigate East Liberty shooting

Pittsburgh Police are investigating an early-morning shooting that took place in the city’s East Liberty neighborhood.

Around 1 a.m., police, fire and EMS units reported to the 400 block of Omega Court after receiving reports of a man with a gunshot wound.

Police said they found an unresponsive man in his 30s with a gunshot wound in his chest. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Police believe the shooting inside a home occurred following an altercation. The investigation is ongoing.

Icy roads cause spate of car accidents on Thanksgiving night

The National Weather Service is asking people to be wary of slick roads following a series of car accidents in the western Pennsylvania region Thanksgiving night.

According to the service’s evening post on social media platform X, light snow fell on warm roads and turned into ice.

A light coating of snow has fallen on warm roads, bringing road temperatures below freezing and turning wet spots on untreated roads into ice. Slick spots remains possible through the overnight. Police, fire and EMS crews reported to vehicle accidents across the region. Portions of I-79 and I-70 in Washington County were closed after two crashes Thursday evening, one of them fatal. South Strabane Fire Department said the roads reopened at about 10 p.m.

“Road conditions across Washington County are dangerously icy. We are keeping all safety crews, first responders, and those involved in our thoughts and prayers,” a 7:30 p.m. post from the Washington County Sheriff’s office said.

Oakmont’s volunteer fire department assisted with a multi-vehicle accident on Route 28 North in Harmar Township around 8 p.m.

National Weather Service warned people to be aware of slick roadways Friday morning as snow showers continue north of I-80.

PennDOT asked drivers to “slow down, leave more space,” on snowy slushy or icy roads.

Police investigate Washington shooting

A man is in the hospital after a shooting occurred Wednesday night outside of the Washington Community Club.

According to the City of Washington Police Department, authorities responded overnight to the club on North Main Street after receiving reports of a shooting.

Officers found a man who had been shot multiple times. He was transported to a Pittsburgh hospital.

The shooting occurred outside the club after a patron was removed, according to police. An investigation is ongoing.

City police ask anyone that witnessed the shooting or has information related to the incident to reach out to the department through comments or messaging on its Facebook page, by calling the confidential tip line at 724-223-4108 or the detectives unit at 724-223-4225.

Ohio Township road closure

The Ohio Township Police Department said a section of Mt. Nebo Road will be closed “for hours” Friday morning.

Mt. Nebo Road in Ohio Township is closed between Arndt Road and the entrance to Mount Nebo Pointe.

According to police, a large tree came down overnight causing power lines to come down and damaging poles. Police said Duquesne Light Company is aware of the incident and is working on power repairs.

“However, it will be hours until it opens,” police said in a post on Facebook.

Police said the road could possibly be reopened by mid-morning.

Travelers are asked to find an alternate route.
