Water main break impacts South Side Flats

A water main break was reported around 3:45 a.m. Thursday in Pittsburgh’s South Side Flats neighborhood.

Crews responded to the break near the intersection of Sarah and East Carson streets, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.

Pittsburgh Water told TribLive that as of 6:45 a.m., crews were working to shut the water off and isolate the break so repairs can begin.

More information will be available once the break is isolated, Pittsburgh Water said.

Water main break on North Side

Pittsburgh Water reported a water main break Thursday morning on the city’s North Side at Lockhart Street between Nash and Cedar streets, near East Allegheny.

The company said water has been shut off to the scene and repairs are underway.

The event is impacting about 30 properties, according to Pittsburgh Water.

The break of the 8-inch water main should be restored later this afternoon, the company’s website reports.

Graffiti removal scheduled for Parkway East, Route 28

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will begin graffiti removal operations Thursday on Route 28 and the Parkway East (Interstate 376).

On the Parkway (westbound), there will be a single lane restriction between the Oakland (Exit 73B) and Fort Duquesne Bridge/North Shore (Exit 70C) exits from 9:30-11:30 a.m., according to the announcement.

On Route 28, a single lane restriction will occur between 10 a.m. to noon, that will affect the northbound lanes, between the I-279 North/East Ohio Street and 31st Street Bridge/Strip District (Exit 2) interchanges, and southbound, between the North 8/Butler (Exit 5) and Millvale (Exit 3B) interchanges, PennDOT said. This includes parts of Millvale and Etna boroughs, as well as Shaler Township.

Premier Power Cleaning crews will perform the graffiti removal, PennDOT said.

Video footage secured in Washington shooting

A search warrant was successfully executed Tuesday at the Washington Community Club — gaining detectives access to video surveillance footage of a recent shooting outside the building.

The shooting occurred Nov. 26 outside of the club on North Main Street after a patron was removed, according to police, TribLive previously reported.

A man had been shot multiple times, and he was transported to a Pittsburgh hospital.

The video footage is now being “thoroughly reviewed and analyzed” by investigators, according to a Washington Police Department Facebook post written by Chief Steve Devenney.

“The City of Washington Police Department hopes that the recovered evidence will shed further light on the events that took place and lead to the identification and arrest of those responsible for this violent incident,” the statement said.

Anyone with information about the shooting should contact the police department, according to the chief.
