The identities of two Fayette County residents killed in a motorcycle accident early Wednesday morning on the Mon-Fayette Expressway near Uniontown have been released by the Fayette County Coroner on Thursday.

The driver, Adam R. Carney, 30, and his passenger, Savanah Stimmell, 33, both of Allison in Redstone Township, died as a result of traumatic injuries when the motorcycled with a deer and hit the guardrail along the roadway in North Union at around 9 a.m ., Coroner Phillip Reilly said. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by a deputy coroner, Reilly said.

The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the accident, the coroner said. Neither driver nor the passenger were wearing helmets, Reilly said.

State police at Uniontown investigated the crash. Additional details were not available.
