NBC's 'Dateline' to recount Blairsville dentist's murder
The 2006 murder of Blairsville dentist John Yelenic will be recounted in the Friday installment of NBC’s “Dateline.”
Titled “The Premonition,” the two-hour segment of the long-running investigative series will air at 9 p.m.
Among those interviewed for the show is Janelle Lydic, a Blairsville police corporal who was among the first on the blood-soaked crime scene.
Yelenic was repeatedly slashed with a knife before his head was forced through a window in the foyer of his Blairsville home, according to testimony.

Kevin Foley, a former Pennsylvania state police trooper, was convicted by an Indiana County jury in 2009 of first-degree murder of Yelenic and sentenced to life in prison. At the time of the murder, Foley was living with Yelenic’s estranged wife, Michele, who denied any role in the crime and was not charged.
The Yelenic case was the subject of “Killer Affair,” a September program on Oxygen. That show focused on forensic technology that led to Foley’s arrest, specifically the minute amount of genetic material found under Yelenic’s fingernails that matched Foley’s.
It also was covered in the first segment of “Deadly Dentists,” a three-part series that premiered in 2017 on Discovery.
