As covid-19 cases continue to increase in Allegheny County, state officials Tuesday launched a new online dashboard that put the numbers into perspective by comparing them on a week-to-week basis.

“This dashboard provides the entire community with early warning to changes in covid-19 infection so that we can take action to prevent spread,” state Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine said.

The dashboard shows newly reported cases and provides a comparison to the previous seven-day total. It also shows the incidence rate per 100,000 residents, the rate of positive covid-19 tests, average daily hospitalizations, average number of patients on ventilators and percentage of emergency room visits because of covid-19.

The statewide total of new confirmed cases was 3,677 for the seven-day period starting June 22 and ending June 28. During the previous week (June 15-21) the number of confirmed cases was 2,974, a difference of 703 cases.

In Allegheny County during the same period the total was 424 as compared to 134 cases in the previous seven-day period, a difference of 290. Westmoreland County has 91 cases compared to 48 cases in the previous seven-day period, a difference of 43.

People can sort the numbers for each of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties.
