The mercury is unlikely climb out of the teens for the next several days as the region continues to grapple with the remnants of Sunday’s winter storm.
Temperatures in the region will mostly linger in the single digits and low teens until early next week, when the National Weather Service expects temperatures to rise into the 20s.
That means temperatures above freezing — and potential snow melt — aren’t on the horizon.
During the night and early morning, weather service models show temperatures consistently dropping below zero until Sunday.
In Pittsburgh, the forecast shows early Friday morning sitting at -4 and Saturday morning at -6.
Those figures would flirt with the record low -5 for Friday and Saturday set in 2019.
Considering wind chill, forecasts have temperatures around Pittsburgh unlikely to rise above 5 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday. Both of those days are part of a cold weather advisory issued by the weather service.
Further snow, however, seems unlikely. The next several days are set to be mostly cloudy with occasional periods of sunshine.
