Hanover Township police said an off-duty Pittsburgh police officer punched a woman in the face during a September concert at the Pavilion at Star Lake, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI.
Chas Kulow was at the Washington County venue with his girlfriend for a Five Finger Death Punch concert on Sept. 21, according to the criminal complaint.
The report said as EMS workers were attempting to treat his girlfriend, Kulow became aggressive and uncooperative; that’s when police were called to the scene. The EMS workers said Kulow appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance and very agitated.
According to the complaint, Kulow left the scene and his girlfriend was transported to Weirton Hospital. However, police said he returned to the ambulance area and when the victims tried to calm him down, Kulow punched a woman in the face.
Police said Kulow then complained of chest pains and was taken by ambulance to Weirton Hospital. Once there, police say he became uncooperative and belligerent with hospital staffers and officers.
Kulow was charged with disorderly conduct in Weirton.
For the Star Lake incident, Kulow is charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.
WPXI reports police say Kulow has been on paid administrative leave since the incident, and they are now reviewing the charges and will take appropriate action.
