The owner of a trash hauling company in Washington County has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of filing false income tax returns.

Tina L. Beck, 53, of West Alexander, is accused of failing to report the full amount of the gross receipts from her business, Beck’s Refuse Service, according to the four-count indictment unsealed on Sept. 29.

“Beck filed federal income tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service for the calendar years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 on which she willfully under reported gross receipts from the operation of the business,” prosecutors said.

Beck pleaded not guilty to the charges.

If convicted, Beck could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison and ordered to pay a $1 million fine.

The case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service.
