Paramedics responding to a medical call overnight in Washington County were taken to a hospital to be examined after they were exposed to an unknown substance, according to a 911 supervisor.

The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. in the 1000 block of Garfield Avenue in Roscoe.

A hazardous materials team was dispatched to the neighborhood to investigate, but there is believed to be no immediate threat to nearby residents, according to authorities.

Roscoe is a borough of about 850 residents located 25 miles southeast of the City of Washington.
