A 2-year-old boy died Saturday morning from a fire in Butler County, according to state police.

State police said they were contacted about the fire on Old Route 422 in Clearfield around 8:45 a.m.

Alex Umbaugh and Melina Bryner were able to get out of the home, which state police said was fully involved.

After realizing their son, Jesse, did not and was still inside, they tried to re-enter but could not, state police said.

Firefighters from nine departments responded and put out the fire. Jesse was found inside and pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.

Umbaugh was taken to AHN West Penn Hospital while Bryner was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital.

A state police fire marshal was investigating.
