Students at Peters Township High School will pivot to remote learning for at least the next four days, after discovering three possible cases of the coronavirus.

Peters Township School District notified families via email that it learned of one case of covid-19 and two other cases presumed positive.

“All three cases are unrelated to in-school transmission,” the email reads.

Shelly Belcher, a district spokeswoman, said there are also presumed positive cases in both Peters Township Middle School and McMurray Elementary. Parents were notified, she said, but no additional measures are being taken, as there is just one case in each school.

The email said the high school is following guidance from the state Department of Education by temporarily closing. Those who tested positive will not return to school until they have completed isolation procedures.

Impacted areas of the school will be thoroughly sanitized and students and staff who are considered close contacts will be notified by the Department of Health or a district representative.

The high school will reopen for in-person learning next week.

Peters Township School District is offering both traditional in-person and online learning options under Gov. Tom Wolf’s green phase of reopening, according to the district website.
