Pickup smashes into Five Below in Cranberry, driver taken to hospital
A pickup truck crashed into a Five Below discount retail store Friday afternoon in Cranberry, smashing through the storefront’s glass facade, flying past the entryway cart corrals and crushing gift boxes and wrapping paper rolls beneath its wheels as it came to a rest against a shopping aisle.
An ambulance took the vehicle’s driver to a nearby hospital, a Butler County 911 shift commander said. An update was not available on the person’s condition.
No one else appears to be injured, initial reports indicate. Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV reported that no shoppers or employees were seriously injured.
Emergency dispatchers received a report of the incident at the store along Route 19 at about 3:30 p.m., the 911 shift commander said.
Police and investigators remained on scene to collect evidence and do accident reconstruction as of shortly after 5 p.m., according to the shift commander.
The truck was lifted out of the store and towed away, after coming to a rest a few feet away from a row of unmanned shopping carts and a “Now Hiring” job promotion sign.
It’s unclear what caused the crash. No further information was immediately available.
Cranberry Township police, which is investigating the incident, could not immediately be reached.
