Anyone who enjoys warm, dry days better get out Wednesday and enjoy it, for it will be here but a day.

The high temperature is expected to rise into the mid-60s this afternoon, with a high of 67 expected in the Pittsburgh area, National Weather Service meteorologist Lee Hendricks said.

That’s well-above the normal high for the day of 50, but short of the record high of 75 set in 1958.

It will be breezy, with winds up to 25 mph at times, but no rain is expected until after midnight.

“I’m personally going out and cutting my grass for the last time,” Hendricks said. “Enjoy it today, because you’re probably not going to see it for a while.”

It will remain mild overnight, with lows in the mid-40s as the rain moves in.

Today’s warmth is thanks to a very strong area of high pressure off the East Coast that is pumping relatively warm air into the region from the Gulf. It won’t last long, however, because a very strong cold front is on the way that will bring windy conditions and colder temperatures.

The high will stay in the mid-40s on Thursday, when the chance for rain is almost 100%, Hendricks said. There’s a slight chance of snow showers Thursday night as rain changes to snow, but no accumulation is expected. The low Thursday night will fall into the upper 20s.

The next warmest day in the forecast will Sunday, when the high is expected to be in the low 50s, Hendricks said. It will get colder after then, with highs expected in the mid 40s Monday and the upper 30s Tuesday.
